Words from my heart to yours
Yoga is more than just physical poses so we like to include other elements as part of our practices Mudras, Mantra, Mindfulness, Meditation & Malas
Mudra means “seal,” or “gesture,” Yoga mudras are symbolic gestures often practiced with the hands & fingers.
They help facilitate the flow of Prana or energy in the body to enhance & support the journey within
The word mantra is derived from two Sanskrit words
manas (mind) and tra (tool). Mantra literally means “a tool for the mind,”
Mantras are sounds or vibrations each having its own unique healing energy the most common or well known Mantra in the Yoga world is AUM (OM) which is often said to be the highest vibrational sound in the universe connecting all things
Mindfulness is the simple act of paying attention, noticing & being present to whatever you’re doing
We practice Mindfulness by connecting to & using our senses to see, listen, taste, smell or touch
Meditation is a term being used very loosely in modern society and can often be merged with mindfulness
We refer to meditation as the art of being & doing nothing
Mala - you don't need a set of Mala beads to do this practice, if you do great this is more about using the practice of 108 repetitions
108 is often known as a sacred number in Yoga
Here is a little interesting fact:
The diameter of the Sun multiplied by 108 equals the distance between Sun & Earth,
The diameter of the Moon multiplied by 108 equals the distance between Earth & Moon.
The diameter of the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth.
